Eileen Mallon Ives (1940-1998) conducted extensive genealogical research on multiple families across the United States, personally travelling to all forty-eight contiguous states and collecting a wide range of genealogical information and original documents spanning 1612-1996, with the bulk of the information dating from 1612-1895.

Biographical or Historical Data
Eileen Mallon Ives was born in Detroit in 1940 to Arlena A. Trayler of Smithfield, North Carolina and John Mallon of Ireland. Eileen's mother Arlena conducted extensive genealogical research on her family roots until 1953 when she passed away. Losing both of her parents before the age of fifteen, Eileen, like her mother Arlena, became interested in genealogy and embarked on a journey in a motorhome to follow in her family's footsteps. Over the course of one year, Eileen travelled 35,000 miles across the contiguous United States, touching all forty-eight states and ammassing an extrordinary amount of genealogical information on multiple families in the process.
Biographical or Historical Data
Eileen was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the American Colonies, and the Decendants of Washington's Army at Valley Forge. She was also the editor of "Coast Chatter", the monthly newsletter of the Central Coast Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. Eileen was the Great-Granddaughter of Oscar Ripley Rand (1860-1904) who figures prominently in the collection.

Eileen Mallon Ives passed away in 1998 and her extensive collection of genealogical research was donated by her husband, James H. Ives, to the Olivia Raney Local History Library in Raleigh, North Carolina.
