Description
Part of a national program sponsoored by Sears, Roebuck Foundation to revitalize older neighborhoods, the raleighbranch of the Home and Neighborhood Development Sponsors was founded in 1958 and headed by Vallie Henderson, lifelong resident of the Oakwood neighborhood of Raleigh. The organization was largely made up of members of the various Raleigh garden clubs, and concentrated on beautifying Raleigh neighborhoods, later concentration on beautifying the downtown areas as well. The collection contains administrative files, awards and certificates, and a scrapbook of the organization.
